Capture the true spirit of the South Island on a magical experience seeing the very best the South Island has to offer. Experience scenic train journeys, stunning National Parks, awe-inspiring glaciers and the world renowned Milford Sound.

 

Day 1: Arrive Christchurch 

Welcome to Christchurch. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Today is yours for optional activities.

1 night in Christchurch

 

Day 2: Christchurch- Kaikoura

The Coastal Pacific train passes through North Canterbury sheep country and travels along the spectacular coastline between the Kaikoura Ranges and the Pacific.

1 night in Kaikoura

 

Day 3: Kiakoura- Blenheim- Nelson

Rejoin the Coastal Pacific train and turn inland to Blenheim. Continue by coach to Nelson. *

2 nights in Nelson

 

Day 4: Nelson- Abel-Tasman National Park- Nelson

Enjoy a full day excursion in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. Coach to Kaitereteri Beach before boarding your launch. Choose to remain on board for the duration or disembark to walk part of the track.

 

Day 5: Nelson- GreyMouth- Glaciers

Travel through the Buller Gorge to Westport and down the coast to the famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks.

Join a tour to travel to the glaciers, visiting the jade carvers in Hokitika, a giant Matai tree and several picturesque lakes.  Take a short guided walk to the terminal face of a glacier. Consider staying an extra day. 

2 night in either Fox or Franz Josef Glacier townships

 

Day 6: Glaciers

Spend the day in the Glacier region and experience a guided Glacier Valley Walk or upgrade to one of the many other on Glacier experiences available such as a Heli Hike, Scenic flight or ice walking activity.

 

Day 7: Glaciers- Queenstown

Head south into dense rainforest broken by rugged coastal vistas. The Haast Pass to Lake Wanaka. Continue on this afternoon through the rugged Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown.

3 nights in Queenstown

 

Day 8: Queenstown- Molford Sound- Queenstown

An early start around the southern shores of Lake Wakatipu to Lake Te Anau, then into Fiordland National Park. Pass through pristine beach forests and the Homer Tunnel to view the majesty of Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls while enjoying lunch abroad a cruise on the Sound. Depart Milford Sound to return to Queenstown by evening.

 

 

Day9: Queenstown

Today is free for you to enjoy this fabulous alpine resort. We have included the Skyline Gondola in your tour. There are dozens of optional activities to enjoy from thrilling jet boat rides to leisurely lake cruises, 4WD safaris and wine tasting.

 

Day 10: Queenstown- Mt Cook- Christchurch 

Travel through the Kawarau Gorge and over the Lindis Pass to reach Mount Cook around midday in time for lunch with a view. Pass Lake Tekapo, then north to Christchurch where your tour concludes.
